How to Convert Videos, Media files To ASCII Format Using VLC Media Player

I’ll like to share a tutorial on how to convert videos and rich media files to ASCII format using VLC – my favorite media player.

VLC, already known as a video player with lots of tweak and tricks. While you definitely

converting any video to ASCII is one that is slightly less known.

ASCII version of movies like Star wars are very popular online, I think
the less known feature of this amazing media player can be used to have lots of
fun.

To see the converted form of a video, you need open any video or rich media file and VLC will automatically
display its converted form.

To convert any video in ASCII, just need follow
the provided step by step guide below –

• Open VLC Media Player
• Click on the Tools menu and in the drop down list, click on Preferences at the bottom of the list
• Click on Video icon in the left sidebar
• Click on the drop down box next to Output
• Select “Color ASCII art video output” from the drop down list
• Click Save and restart VLC

For earlier versions of VLC media player, you might be required to modify these settings
under the Advance tab or All Settings tab.

As VLC runs on a almost all the popular operating systems
(OSs), this trick will work on any computer that can run the software conveniently but can give a stuttered output on older computers that have
poor hardware.
